More than 278.34 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus globally and 5,691,014 have died, according to a Reuters tally on Sunday.
Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in December 2019.
Kuwait announced 150 new Covid-19 cases with no new deaths reported in the past 24 hours.
The state news agency KUNA quoted the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health as saying that the new figures took the total cases to 414,911, and deaths to 2,468.
The ministry added that 43 patients have recovered from the virus over the past day, taking the number of virus recoveries to 411,299.
Meanwhile, India reported 6,987 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, Asian News International (ANI) quoted the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare as saying on Sunday.
According to the ministry, 422 cases of Omicron variant of coronavirus have been reported in the country so far.
ANI also added that the country witnessed as many as 162 Covid-related deaths in the last 24 hours. With the addition of new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 479,682.
