GSK Vaccine Shows High Efficacy

A Covid-19 vaccine from GlaxoSmithKline Plc and Canada’s Medicago Inc. demonstrated 71% efficacy against multiple variants of the disease. The result is positive for the pandemic latecomers, even though the latest omicron variant wasn’t in circulation at the time of the trial.
In a separate study, Glaxo said its Covid-19 antibody treatment was effective against the omicron variant and would stand up to all mutations in the spike protein.
The Eastern Chinese city of Ningbo imposed a lockdown on its Zhenhai district and closed some schools to stem a local outbreak, echoing the country’s strict Covid-Zero strategy that doesn’t tolerate any sorts of flareups. Meanwhile, the U.K.’s operation to roll out booster shots to all adults is struggling to pick up speed.
